Giro d’Italia : Dolomites & The Alps
2024 Itinerary

Dolomiti Alps Tour 2024

Summary Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - Desenzano del Garda
Saturday 18th May 2024

Guests will be picked up from Milan Airport in the morning and we’ll head straight to our accommodation - the beautiful area on the shores of Lake Garda.

We will settle in, get the bikes built and grab some lunch before heading out for a roll. It just happens to be one of our favourite days on tour - TT day. An afternoon spent watching the riders head past at rapid speeds while enjoying a drink.

A short ride to the TT course and back to loosen the legs up before settling in for dinner.

Accommodation: Hotel Berta

DAY 2 - Bormio
Sunday 19th May 2024

Today we bid farewell to sea level and head into the eastern alps. On the way we will pop in to the start village of the Giro stage and check it out, see the riders up close, look around the buses, experience the entertainment and displays and no doubt grab some of the Giro paraphernalia.

There’ll be no easing through the rest of the day though, as we ride the famous Stelvio Pass, a whopping 28km uphill, and at this time of year, it will still have plenty of snow around, so rug up.

Dinner in Bormio is on the cards after catching up on what happened in today’s gruelling Giro stage.

Accommodation: Miramonti Park Hotel

DAY 3 - Bormio
Monday 20th May 2024

Today is a rest day in the Giro but not for us. We’re going to head to Livigno where yesterdays gruelling stage finished. Apart from the stage finish, it also a popular spot in summer for the pro riders to go for altitude camp.

On return, we will rest up and kick back at a well positioned bar for the afternoon, looking into the Alps, before heading to one of our favourite pizza restaurants.

Accommodation: Miramonti Park Hotel

DAY 4 - Campitello di Fassa
Tuesday 21st May 2024

From our accommodation in Bormio we be able to see the race come straight though town, on the way to tackling the Stelvio. For us though, on today’s menu is the infamous Mortirolo. Once we’ve conquered this epic climb, we’ll grab some lunch and meet up with the vans to head into the Dolomites

Another favourite spot of Gruppetto’s is this little alpine resort in northern Italy. Sitting near the Pordoi, Sella and Fedaia passes, it’s part of the Dolomiti Superski area - so we all know what’s coming…

Accommodation: Hotel Medil

DAY 5 - Campitello di Fassa
Wednesday 22nd May 2024

Today we will do two tough climbs in the Dolomites, Passo Sanpellagrino and Passo Valles, before climbing part of Passo Rolle where we will park up & watch the pro’s go by. From there it’s just a short descent to our accommodation.

Another nice dinner in the Dolomites is on the menu.

Accommodation: Hotel Medil

DAY 6 - Conegliano
Thursday 23rd May 2024

Today is Sella Ronda day!

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll saddle up to tackle this incredible ride. A classic cycling circuit over four famous mountain passes through scenery that will blow your mind.

Get ready for Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Campalongo & Passo Pordoi

After another incredible day in the Dolomites we will head back to sea level to a sensational town in the Veneto region. Dinner tonight is in the Conegliano Castle, nested in the foot hills overlooking the Prosecco vineyards.

DAY 7 - Conegliano
Friday 24th May 2024

Settle in for a big breakfast, because today is a long one, and no prizes for guessing, we climb again!

This time it’s a lap in Prosecco country, climbing Passo Cansiglio and the beautiful Passo San Boldo.

Tonight we will taste some more food from this great region and maybe a cheeky vino at the wine bar in the cobbled streets.

Accommodation: Canon d’Oro

DAY 8 - Longa di Schiavon
Saturday 25th May 2024

The finishing climb of Stage 20 is our target today. We will head out on bikes from our accommodation in Conegliano and ride the undulating course to Bassano del Grappa where the pro’s will complete two laps of Monte Grappa. It’s a challenging course for the pro’s with super steep sections and should prove very entertaining.

From there we’ll head toward our accomodation & a big dinner will be ready after what has no doubt been a day of fireworks.

Accommodation: Sweet Hotel

DAY 9 - Cossato (Mama’s)
Sunday 26th May 2024

This morning we will head back to Monte Grappa and instead of watching the pro’s, we will have a go ourselves. Once we finish this tough climb we will head straight to our Italian home in Cossato, a beautiful village nestled at the bottom of the Alps in Piemonte.

We will have time to watch the pro’s finish their three weeks around Italy with a race around the streets of Rome, ready to see the finale unfold on the big screen.

Back to Mama’s for dinner - I hope your hungry!!

Accommodation: Albergo Tina

DAY 10 - Farewells
Monday 27th May 2024

Unfortunately its time to pack up and head to Milan Malpensa airport for a 10am drop off. Those continuing on in Italy can pick up their car or transfer from there, and those heading home can board their flights back to friends and family ready to share the flood of new memories.

Until next time, it’s goodbye for now.
